A WordPress plugin is an easy way to add more functionality or features to your WordPress blog. But, there are many plugins available and that’s why it can be hard to find the right plugin for the feature you need. Not every plugin is a good catch. Some plugins aren’t easy to use or sometimes the plugin isn’t a safe choice. For these reasons I have a short list with some good WordPress plugins, which I use for almost every blog. For PrimeBlogger I used the next 5 WordPress plugins. Every single plugin is highly recommended.
Do you want to get noticed by search engines? Then you should put some effort in Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The Yoast SEO plugin is easy to use and it comes with many different SEO features. For example: breadcrumbs, social media and a XML sitemap. A big advantage of this SEO plugin is the “real time page analysis”. With this special feature it’s easy to analyse your blogposts, before you publish them. The real time page analysis isn’t a guarantee that your blogpost will rank high. It’s more a checklist for yourself.
Instagram Slider widget
Did you see the Instagram slider just before the footer? The plugin I used is the “Instagram Slider widget”. Many themes don’t offer the “after content widget area”, but it’s also possible to use this plugin in your sidebar. The plugin is easy to use. Another feature I should mention is the “shortcode generator”. You can use this shortcode to add an instagram slider on different pages or posts.
Ajax Contact Form
Every blogger needs a contact form, otherwise visitors can’t contact you. You could use contact form 7, a well known plugin. But, for all my websites I use the “Ajax Contact Form” plugin. This plugin works very good and you can add a contact form to every page with a single shortcode. It’s even possible to change the text (use a localization tool) or the style (CSS) of the contact form.
Jetpack by WordPress.com
Possibly every blogger knows the Jetpack plugin. It’s one of the most important WordPress plugins and it consists of many different features. For example a contact form, subscriptions, social media buttons and widget visibility. For PrimeBlogger I’m using the Jetpack Comment System, but the other Jetpack features are worth a try too. The standard comment system from WordPress isn’t very good and that’s why I use Jetpack. There are some other options, but I think that Jetpack is one of the best choices. The design is great and there aren’t too many features.
WP Super Cache
Do you want your blog to be fast? Then you should use the WP Super Cache plugin. With this plugin you can make a file cache. Are many readers visiting your website at the same time, the file cache makes sure that your blog won’t slow down. The plugin is easy to set up, even when you have minimal technical knowledge.
There are some other great WordPress plugins I have used for PrimeBlogger and my other blogs, but these are a few you should use too. Do you have some favorite plugins? Post them in the comments below!
